"It
was very important to me that we use rock and roll in the
film. There have been a lot of movies made and you don't
hear any of it in the film because its always underplayed.
It's done as a promotional tool so that they can release
an album. I like rock and roll and I wanted to use it up
front to drive the story and the whole pace of the film.
We constructed it almost as a series of musical numbers.
A lot were chosen very early on in the process and often
the writing was done having a particular song in mind. I
just found that it gave the whole thing a very operatic
feeling for the larger than life passions that were involved.
It does certainly make the thing feel very energetic."
